Description

So, what is wellbeing?

Wellbeing is about our overall quality of life and is
ultimately determined by our social, economic and
environmental conditions. Wellbeing is defined by
the Oxford English Dictionary as “the state of being
comfortable, healthy, or happy”.

It is also worth bearing in mind that wellbeing is a much
broader concept than being just about our mental and
physical health. There are many other aspects that we
need to consider and we can benefit from embracing a
more holistic approach to help balance our lives better.
By taking some time to reflect on each aspect of our life
and where we can make improvements, we will be able
to cope well with change and life’s inevitable challenges.

Having spent many years researching a variety of life
skills to support our wellbeing, my aim with this book is
to distil some of that information and share a collection
of practical tips that I have learnt along the way.

I do hope that you enjoy this book and most of all that it
provides you with a few nuggets of wisdom.

Janet BakerDeputy Regional Director of Public Health, Department of Health (West Midlands)

Liggy provided a very enjoyable and energetic day for the team. She gave us lots of tips on having a positive approach to work and life and how to manage our own emotions, look for opportunities and to make sure we take care of ourselves in a time of change. We set personal actions plans which will help us in taking forward the tips we want to adopt. A day that is fully recommended to other teams.

Nazanin MotamediProducer, BBC World Service

I love Liggy Webb’s bite sized books.
The resilience book is like my morning espresso shot. I can’t start my day without scanning through it and some of the strategies changed my life priorities.

Jane BillP&O Passenger

I thoroughly enjoyed Liggy’s presentations on the pursuit of happiness and related topics. Some expert tips delivered in a direct, simple and humorous manner ensured an interesting, but not too taxing, learning experience. She left me wanting to know more! A great excuse for another cruise!

Kate ButlandUCAS

The Workplace Wellness session Liggy delivered at UCAS has been so well received by our staff. It is great to see so many people sign up to their personal action plan. The session has had a really positive impact on the department.

Erica ThorntonHead of UK Delivery and Development, Sported

In a fast paced world, Liggy’s bite sized books are perfect for quickly digesting invaluable information.

Jonathan Kettleborough  Senior Lecturer, Information Systems Strategy, Manchester Metropolitan University

If books were like coffee, then most would be a large cappuccino; oversized, with foam, sprinkles and syrup – good to look at but difficult to digest.  On the other hand, Liggy’s books are like an espresso; perfectly short and balanced while at the same time delivering outstanding content and experience.

Work is what you make it. Reading this sentence was like an awakening for me and made me aware of what I can do to help myself to change my attitude towards work. I really enjoy Liggy’s style: clear, direct and inspiring.

Charles FrisbyProgramme Manager - United Nations - Mine Action Service

Liggy Webb’s ‘Resilience’ is yet another very great work by the author. I appreciate Liggy Webb’s style of writing in that she avoids any unnecessary technical language. She conveys with clear words and examples the concept of resilience. With regards to my field of work (peacekeeping and humanitarian mine action) , I find ‘Resilience’ to be highly relevant.

Gavin HorsfallRoyal Shakespeare Company

Liggy’s presentation was a really fascinating session introducing the concepts of positive thinking and identifying our behaviour patterns. All the staff who attended came out feeling well informed and with lots of practical steps they could use to improve their workplace wellness.
