Resilience:
Building the inner
strength to navigate
life’s challenges
Explore practical ways to build resilience
and develop the inner strength to cope,
adapt and thrive.

What is resilience?
Resilience is our ability to adapt and recover when we experience adversity, setbacks, uncertainty, change or difficult circumstances.
But being resilient doesn’t mean that we never struggle.
We are human, and difficult experiences can affect us emotionally, physically and mentally. Resilience is about developing the awareness, skills and resources that help us respond constructively when life gets challenging.

Resilience is not:
- Pretending everything is fine
- Ignoring difficult emotions
- Toughing it out at any cost
- Never asking for help
- Being positive all the time
Resilience is:
- Adapting to change
- Recovering from setbacks
- Managing our emotions
- Looking for solutions and
opportunities - Knowing when to ask for support
- Taking care of ourselves
- Learning from difficult experiences
- Continuing to move forward

Resilience is a human skill
Liggy Webb has spent many years exploring what helps people to cope, adapt and flourish through challenging times.
Through her research for her book Resilience โ How to Cope When Everything Around You Keeps Changing, Liggy interviewed more than 100 people from around the world to explore the behaviours and attitudes that help us become more resilient.
What she discovered is that resilience isn’t about having some special superpower. It is something we can develop.
Self-awareness, optimism, emotional awareness, adaptability, problem-solving, healthy relationships and self-care can all play an important role in helping us navigate life’s inevitable ups and downs.
The good news? Resilience is a skill โ and skills can be learned.
