The joy of blogging

Categories:  Personal development

This is my first proper blog. As a writer I really ought to have embraced blogging long ago however with all good intentions I never seemed to have got around to it. No more excuses! I made a decision that on May 1st 2012 I would fully embark on the joy of blogging!!

I do actually like the term blog – so much more catchy than web log - and it’s quite exciting that I now have a new vocation in life. I am officially, as of today, a blogger. This sounds like fun to me.

There are three bloggers who have inspired me Richard Denny, Colin Gautrey and Jacky Leonard. All of whom write inspiring, entertaining and informative blogs.

My hope is that my blogs will add value to people’s lives. The theme will be very much focused on positive thinking, resilience and modern life skills. These three key areas I have discovered through my research, writing and presentations are so important with regards to helping improve the quality of people’s lives. I want to make a difference. I want to support people to be able to cope better with some of the adversity and challenges that life throws our way. Life can be very difficult and with stress related illness almost common place people need more support to be able to cope better and I am dedicated to doing what I can to help others.

I am very excited that, from some of the feedback I receive, what I do helps people to look at things from a different perspective. To challenge and change some of their thinking. I like to think of myself as “perceptionist” – I credit this term to my friend Jacky as so often I am faced with “realists” who on occasions attempt to marginalise the concept of optimism in the face of a necessary reality check!

Reality in my opinion is about perspective. We have the choice to view any situation any way we want to. I choose to be an optimist and I choose to believe that out of every crisis situation there is an opportunity. Life is what you make it and, through my blogs, I have every intention of helping others to positively improve the quality of their lives by changing some of their habits and perspectives. We are all people in progress with unlimited potential. It is so exciting to imagine what we are capable of and what life has in store for us all.
